We are informed about the latest trends in lifestyle., fashion and entertainment. Media help a lot in the education sector. Media let us know about the opportunities in the career sector. They have a great role in disaster management. They also give live telecast which can even bring out hidden stories of corruption in the public sector.
Even when these are the advantages of media, media have many drawbacks . In certain cases media take a biased approach. The also in certain instances sensationalize news items just to increase the readership. When media glorify crime, violence, and sexual abuse, the youngsters might have the chances of getting wrong influences. Plenty of instances are in our own society for the wrong influence of media upon youngsters. The recent increase in the rate of child criminals justify this. Advertisements decide and design our lifestyle. They sent magic bullets to our taste and design to our lifestyle. Media promote consumerism in our society and thereby debt trap.
But in this era of global village concept we cannot live without media. What we want is a wise approach in dealing with media.
